Dr. Alexis Baney grew up in central Pennsylvania and through her grandfather, found a love for horses at an early age. Dr. Baney rode Hunters/Jumpers competitively while growing up and quickly developed a love for the equine world. From an early age, she was captivated by veterinary medicine and a personal tragedy with her own horse fueled her passion to one day become an equine veterinarian.

Dr. Baney attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where she received her Bachelor’s degree. She worked as a veterinary assistant at a small animal clinic while completing her undergraduate studies. Dr. Baney received her degree in veterinary medicine in 2014 from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

She completed a one-year veterinary internship at Brandon Equine Medical Center in Florida where she was first introduced to equine sports medicine and lameness diagnosis. In 2015, Dr. Baney returned to Pennsylvania to join Allegheny Equine in Murrysville, PA where she practiced for 6 years and developed a special interest in equine performance and lameness diagnosis (especially diagnostic ultrasound).

Dr. Alexis Baney, DVM

Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Baney feels that taking the time to listen to the owner/rider’s concerns is just as important as the evaluation of the horse when it comes to lameness and performance issues. She strives to evaluate each case independently and come up with diagnostic and treatment plans that best suit the horse and owner. Her goal is that EPVS will be able to provide exceptional specialty care for the horses of Western Pennsylvania across all disciplines.

In her free time, Dr. Baney enjoys spending time with her family/friends, horseback riding, reading, hiking with her dogs, kayaking and traveling. She also sits on the board of directors for the Making Strides Foundation and National Alliance of Equine Practitioners (NAEP).

Maddie grew up in Plum, PA and horses have always been a big part of her life. She has trained and competed in Eventing and Dressage for over 20 years. Maddie graduated from the Vet Tech Institute of Pittsburgh in 2015.

She worked in equine veterinary medicine for seven years before deciding to expand her experience and knowledge in small animal veterinary medicine. While she enjoys working with small animals, Maddie is happy to be back in equine veterinary medicine with her teammate and friend, Dr. Baney. In her spare time, she enjoys riding and training her dressage horses, Valentina and Goose; hiking and spending time with her two dogs, Jager and Kaiser and her husband Tyler and their daughter, Brynn.

Madeline Jaecke

Office Manager/Veterinary Technician

Julia loves every animal that she comes across, big or small, and gravitated to horses for the serenity and joy they provide. She has always looked toward a career that she could continue to learn both about and from. For the last four years, Julia has been the barn manager at Black Dog Stables in Gibsonia, Pa, where she cared for the stables’ horses, mentored young riders, and assisted with a variety of lessons, camps, and other educational programs.

She is beyond proud to say she is the newest addition to Equine Performance Veterinary Services Practice. Julia is excited to continue growing and learning in this new position. Julia enjoys riding for fun in the hunter/jumper discipline with her buddy, the Norwegian Fjord, Oslo. She also loves caring for her pet budgies, hanging with her old lady dog, Tootsie, and spending time outdoors.
